Negotiating Blocs definitions
Below are the common negotiating blocs and some brief descriptions.
| African Group | African countries |
AOSIS | Alliance of Small Island States, 43 members, also members of the G77 |
Environmental Integrity Group | A newer grouping, that includes Mexico Switzerland and South Korea |
EU - European Union | The 25 countries of the EU, led by the rotating presidency |
G77 and China | A bloc of developing countries that actually has over 130 members |
| Least developed countries | 48 countries, recognized by the UN as being those with the lowest development |
| OPEC | the cartel of oil-producing nations |
Umbrella Group | An informal loose coalition of non-EU developed countries, including Australia, Canada, Iceland, Japan, New Zealand, Norway, the Russian Federation, Ukraine and the US. |
