WWF Netherlands is a regional node of the international WWF organization. We have 2 main climate change projects in progress, in the Himalayas and the Arctic.

 

What WWF wants to achieve?

WWF aims to minimize the impact of climate change on natural ecosystems, already endangered species like the Ganges and the dolphin population in the project area by:

  • increasing knowledge on adaptation measures for people and nature better prepare for the adverse effects of climate change.
  • raise awareness about the impacts of climate change.
  • actively lobbying for the reduction of CO2 emissions.

What WWF is doing to achieve that?

  • WWF examines the impact of climate change on glaciers in Nepal and India specific.
  • WWF chart shows the relationship between climate change melting glaciers and fresh water from rivers.
  • WWF is examining whether the amount of water in the Ganges river affects the Ganges dolphin and turtle nesting sites.
  • To improve the living conditions of the Ganges dolphin WWF supports communities to improve methods and techniques that water erosion, salinisation and pollution of the Ganges and to counter the use of organic fertilizers and compost to avoid using.
  • WWF provides information to key audiences to increase awareness creation on climate change.
  • WWF plant mangrove forest in the Sunderbansdelta in collaboration with local communities.
  • WWF urges global and regional policy makers to reduce CO2 emissions to avoid catastrophic impacts of climate change.
