Voices for Progress, a project of The Advocacy Fund, is a non-profit organization formed in 2009 with the mission to educate philanthropists, business leaders, state & local elected officials, and other community leaders to efficiently and effectively advocate with federal policy-makers on important issues facing Congress.
There is no shortage of self-interested voices on Capitol Hill. Corporations and self-interested lobbies, with many millions or even billions of dollars at stake in public policy decisions, retain lobbyists to make their interests weighed early and often in the policymaking process. In contrast, people motivated by the public interest lack policy staff to educate them on the legislation and keep them connected to policy makers to make their voices heard in the process. The result is that the playing field is tilted sharply toward the self-interested voices.
Voices for Progress aims to balance this playing field by providing information on federal policy issues to influential individuals, minimizing the time they need to get up to speed on a variety of issues. The policy information Voices for Progress develops is balanced and evidence-based, making it easy and efficient to get involved.
