Canadian Centre for Policy Ingenuity (CCPI)

About CCPI

The Canadian Centre for Policy Ingenuity is a new kind of Canadian think-tank. It is a non-profit, non-partisan, organization that creates practical solutions to significant social, economic, and environmental problems in order to achieve sustained results.

Working across government, business, and civil society, CCPI creates an atmosphere that makes positive change beneficial to everyone around the table. CCPI provokes change by ensuring decision makers have the appropriate incentives to act.

Our Mission and Vision

Our mission is to enable Canada to move towards a more sustainable economy, society, and environment through government and corporate policy ingenuity. Our vision is to establish Canada as a leading world citizen.

In practice, this means working to:

  • Ensure that we have the public will and public policy capacity to protect our clean air and water,
  • Ensure that Canadians and, ultimately, the world have access to abundant renewable energy,
  • Ensure that Canadian business has proper incentive to increase resource productivity and transition to sustainable operations,
  • Provide an environment that enables Canadians to develop unmatched skills and knowledge, and
  • Ensure our sustainable and sustained longevity and prosperity.

    Our Approach

Decision makers tend to define problems with a narrow focus without understanding the connections and impacts beyond their confined scope. CCPI uses systems thinking to understand the broader connections within problems and applies this thinking to policy creation and activation. This approach enables solutions that go beyond ideology to unite parties around mutual goals.

    Focusing on Climate Change

Since its inception, CCPI has been focusing its strengths on one large and inadequately tended problem: climate change. The issue of climate change is critical. And the window of opportunity for effective action is closing. CCPI is working to partner with Canada's business and community leaders to wage a direct battle against climate change.

CCPI believes that business is instrumental to solving the climate change problem. Profit seeking ventures can be organized to benefit from fighting climate change. Canada's economy can not afford to ignore climate change.
