“Climate Change and Development” NGO Alliance

The Alliance has been founded on December of 2010 by 14 local NGOs. Initiative of its establishment emerged as a result of a research work dedicated to the learning of impacts of climate change on agriculture and its reduction. Considering the necessity to increase participation of relevant civil society organizations in Azerbaijan in implementation of obligations emerging from UN Frame Convention for Climate Change, it aims to support reducing of negative impacts of climate change, strengthening of society’s role in risk management, also realizing of programs and increasing of public participation in it, especially women and young people.

Alliance supports implementation of important researches and advocacy works through coordination of all activities in this field and playing a role of information source. Currently Alliance works at national level. Alliance held research on economic impacts of climate change to agriculture in Ganja-Ghazakh region (western part of country). The same time as a pilot region we are involving local CSOs to our activities and train them on this issue. We hold trainings for farmers on managing economic risks of climate change. As a awareness raising campaign we train land users, farmers and leasers of municipality land.
