Mahlet Eyassu

Southern Capacity Building Program Fellow (2011)-Ethiopia

Mahlet Eyassu has a Bachelors Degree in Sociology and Social Administration and Masters Degree in Environment and Development from Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia. Mahlet works as a Climate Change Program Manager at, Forum for Environment, a local NGO that hosts the Ethiopian Civil Society Network on Climate Change. Additionally she is coordinating the Ethiopian Civil Society Network on Climate Change, which was established at the beginning of 2009 and now has more than 60 member organizations with ten working groups. The network has been working on raising awareness, building capacities, conducting action oriented researches and creating a platform of experience sharing for communities to adapt to the adverse impacts of climate change. Mahlet is actively engaged in campaigns and also the international climate change negotiations since 2009 advocating for a fair climate deal and co-coordinates the Climate Action Network’s Finance working group in the negotiations. Mahlet was the SCBP fellow for the year 2010.
