
BirdLife International is a partnership of more than 100 independent national organisations which are often well known in their own countries if less so abroad: the RSPB in the UK, the Bombay Natural History Society in India (celebrating its 125 NABU in Germany, The Malaysian Nature Society, Guyra Paraguay, the Conservation Society of Sierra Leone, etc.
The Partership is coordinated by a global secretariat in Cambridge, UK, and by regional secretariats, such as the Americas in Quito, Africa in Nairobi, etc. The secretariats are directed by a Council elected by the regional Partnerships. Partners’ representatives on the Council are currently: Argentina, New Zealand, Palau, Spain, Jordan, Kenya, Switzerland, the USA, Ghana, India, Saudi Arabia, Philippines, Netherlands, the UK and Paraguay.
Policy is made by consensus amongst the partnership, led by coordination groups from partners, and approved by the Council or at Global partnership meetings. The climate change task force comprises partners from the UK, USA, Malaysia, Paraguay, Samoa, Germany, and The Africa Secretariat.
The BirdLife International Partnership strives to conserve birds, their habitats and global biodiversity, working
with people towards sustainability in the use of natural resources.
