Among the founders were established conservation organizations both large and small, local environmental action groups. Intention was to form a federation so the political clout of the environmental movement vergroten. This national structure was for five years running. In 1976, Bond Beter Environment Vlaanderen was officially established as a federation of nature and environmental groups active in the Flemish region. BBL currently encompasses over 140 natural associations and environmental organizations in Flanders, from Greenpeace and WWF on Flanders Natuurpunt to dozens of regional and local associations. The associations can count on a constituency of more than 200,000 members.
Our goal? Healthy air. Clear water. Nature to enjoy.
Our resources ? Large-scale public campaigns , with thousands of participants each year. So we prove that environmentally friendly living within everyone's reach. Through targeted cooperation and consultation we convince politicians and business leaders the importance of a vigorous environment. We provide sound advice to our member organizations. Because we find that the most exciting environmental groups guarantee a future for people and nature.
